只要教师不能区分教学与学习，他们将继续进行儿童只能做为自己的孩子的事情。教孩子阅读不会传递给他们读。当然不是花在阅读活动中的无休止地工作。道格拉斯坚称"阅读不能直接教和学校应停止尝试做不可能的事"。
